Madame Wu Yi
Vice Premier & Minister of Health
The People’s Republic of China,
Dear Madame Wu,
I have today seen the May 29, 2003 edition of Beijing Review which features you on its cover and which presents a most complimentary article by Zan Jifang, entitled “All the Way.”
I write to congratulate you on your election to the high office of Vice Premier,” -- the most powerful woman in government.” Also, I am honored to offer my heartiest commendation for the reported success of your work as Minister of Health in facing and dealing with the deadly SARS outbreak which so sorely affected your country. May I say, also, that the photographs accompanying the story were well chosen.
I recall your visit to our country and our meeting, brief though it was, with much pleasure and wish your continuing success in the discharge of your duties.
I take this opportunity to ask that you convey to Premier Wen Jiabao warmest regards and best wishes for the peace, good health and prosperity of the People’s Republic of China from the Government and people of The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL
