A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) vowed on Wednesday to boost exchanges between the CPC and Chile's political parties.
Wang Lequan, deputy secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with a delegation from Chile's Independence Democrat Union (UDI), led by party President Juan Antonio Coloma.
Wang spoke positively of the achievements made in China-Chile relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 41 years ago, specifically highlighting achievements that have been made since the forging of a bilateral cooperative partnership in 2004.
He said the CPC hopes to set up and develop friendly relations with the UDI and share its experience in governing China.
In response, Coloma said that strengthening relations with China is the consensus of both the ruling and opposition parties of Chile, adding that the UDI is ready to forge and develop friendly ties with the CPC.
The delegation is in Beijing at the invitation of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
