This month we have some great treats for you as we travel to destinations that once again illustrate the mind-boggling diversity and beauty of the African continent. First stop is the little-known country of Ghana, a nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, known its wide variety of wildlife, old forts and secluded beaches, colonial buildings and castles-turned-museums that serve as testimonials to the slave trade. North of Cape Coast, vast Kakum National Park has a treetop-canopy walkway over the rainforest.

We pop into the much vaunted Labadi Beach Hotel, which has risen over the years to shine as Ghana’s premier business address where West Africa meets, works, and plays. Popular with business and leisure travelers alike, millions of guests have swept through Labadi’s grand doors including presidents, prime ministers, first ladies, and royalty from all over the globe.

Then we travel down to Zanzibar for much needed 5-star rest and relaxation.

The Zanzibar Collection’s hotels regularly make a clean sweep in the world of hotel awards.

The three properties we stayed at - Zawadi, The Palms and Barazza - are all unique in their own way and exemplify Zanzibar culture, design, food and hospitality. The Palms especially is a study in romantic, luxurious seclusion and should be one very last person’s bucket list.

Then for something completely different as we visit Mattanu Game Reserve in the Northern Cape in South Africa. A working breeding farm for rare antelope, I had one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life here - and so can you! Going up in a helicopter and filming buffalos being darting from the air by veterinarian doctor Johan Kriek is a memory I will treasure always.

The lodge itself is a gorgeous bush retreat with fantastic food and amazing staff.

And last but not least we travel to the wild and wonderful country of Botswana to indulge in a unique experience at Meno A Kwena Lodge which makes the movie Out of Africa look like a garish commercial for safari fashions.

So enjoy this issue and until next month, Bon Voyage!
