Cross-Straits cooperation will become spotlight at the 13th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen.
"Fujian province and the city of Xiamen have placed high emphasis on preparations for the CIFIT, which is also part of the important efforts to accelerate the Western Straits Economic Zone," said Ye Shuangyu, vice-governor of Fujian and vice-director of the organizing committee of the CIFIT.
As the central government has given priority to the development of the zone, the CIFIT is expected to play an even more pivotal role in attracting international investment, enhancing regional coordination and further developing cross-Straits business.
According to Ye, Taiwan province will be featured at this year's fair.
The display area for Taiwan commodities has been expanded and augmented by a special exhibition zone from the island featuring equipment manufacturing, ways to save energy and new construction materials.
Exhibits will include those from Taiwanese counties and cities as well as top Taiwan products and commodities. A Taiwan pavilion day will be held during the fair.
Other aspects of increased cooperation include the fourth Cross-Straits Trade Exchange and Cooperation Roundtable, the fifth Cross-Straits Taiwan Expo, Cross-Straits Logistics Development Seminar and forums on urban development and banking.
In May China's State Council released a high-level strategic plan to boost development in the Western Straits Economic Zone, so Fujian "has left no stone unturned" to implement the strategy, Ye said.
