Beijing 2022 organizers assured that they would deliver a successful and safe testing program at the Wukesong Sports Center and Capital Indoor Stadium at a press conference on October 11.

As part of the "Experience Beijing" testing program for the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, a series of international competitions including the Asia Figure Skating Open and the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup, and a domestic ice hockey program, will take place in Beijing in mid-October.

Around 500 people will be engaged in the two international competitions, including 280 athletes, while four domestic teams will participate in the ice hockey program.

Echoing the concept of "simple, safe and splendid" Winter Olympic Games, the upcoming testing program will be held in accordance with the Beijing 2022 standard, organizers said.

The Capital Indoor Stadium has adopted trans-critical carbon dioxide ice-making technology, which enhances the energy efficiency by more than 20 percent. And with the most advanced ice making technology, the temperature difference on the ice surface will not exceed 0.5 degrees celsius.

Meanwhile at the Wukesong Sports Center, renovations on rooms, field of play, audience stands, lighting, sound amplification system, and screens have been completed ahead of time.

The ice surface has been built to fit the 26x60 meters Olympic-standard and will be able to switch into 30x60 meters for post-Olympic uses, which is the first ice surface in China that can be converted into two sizes.

Converting a basketball court to an ice surface within six hours is another highlighted feature at the Wukesong Sports Center, where a special underground is built to connect the training hall and the competition hall to allow athletes to quickly shuttle during competition.

To ensure strict implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures, and a timely emergency response, Haidian District, home to Wukesong Sports Center and Capital Indoor Stadium, has set up an operations headquarters for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, where a three-level command system for epidemic prevention and control and a public health emergency management system have been established.

All venues in Haidian District will be physically isolated from the public and all relative personnel will be required to enter with a valid ID card. The movement of personnel involved in the venue will be handled by designated vehicles for transportation.

Real-time health monitoring will be conducted for athletes, coaches, technical officials and staff participating in the test events, and special personnel will be assigned to report and screen abnormalities in time to ensure the safety at all venues.
