Huawei, the world's second largest telecom equipment maker, is planning to tap into Britain's telecom industry by investing another £1.3 billion ($2 billion) in the country. The telecom giant is expected to establish an enterprise network and specialize in providing local firms with private line service. Such an investment would create at least 500 jobs in the country.
Huawei's ambition of external expansion has been repeatedly frustrated. Following failed deals with two American companies—3 COM and 3 Leaf—it was forbidden to bid on the Australian Government's national broadband network project. The investment by Huawei could blaze the trail for further overseas expansion. |
