The launching ceremony of the Peruvian version of President Xi Jinping's The Governance of China in Lima, capital of Peru, on November 19, 2016 The Peruvian version of President Xi Jinping's The Governance of China was launched in Lima, capital of Peru, on November 19. The local version was jointly published by China's Foreign Languages Press (FLP) and Peru's Editora Peru based on the book’s Spanish edition. Huang Kunming, executive deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the book will help local readers understand President Xi's concepts, thoughts and strategies of national governance. The book will enable Peruvian readers to derive a more comprehensive understanding of China, said Zhou Mingwei, President of China International Publishing Group, a Chinese media conglomerate whose subsidiaries include the FLP. Former Peruvian Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez said the book will contribute to exchanges and mutual learning between China and Peru—two countries with different cultures and political traditions. The Governance of China is a book of great value because it reflects the thoughts of the Chinese leader, said Carlos Becerra Gutierrez, Chairman of the Board of Editora Peru, adding that he believes many of the theories expounded in the book can be applied in Peru. The book is a collection of 79 of Xi's speeches, talks, interviews, instructions and correspondence. The FLP originally published the work in a number of languages including Chinese, English, Russian, Arabic, French and Spanish in September 2014. Over 6.2 million copies have since been distributed, some 500,000 of which have been distributed in more than 100 foreign countries and regions.
