Wang Tao, CEO of Beijing Heading Century Consulting Co. Ltd., told China Securities Journal that the biggest problem in the talks was the issue of Dabao's employees. Dabao is known as one of China's model companies, because it provides comprehensive benefits to its workers and employs physically handicapped workers, which constitute about 35 percent of its total workforce.

Johnson & Johnson said it would retain Dabao's employee benefits and its brand.

12th CIFIT to Be Held

The 12th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) will be held on September 8-11 in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The fair is China's only annual international investment promotion event that focuses on promoting bilateral investments. The previous 11 fairs drew a total of more than 100,000 businesspeople from 140 countries and regions. They signed more than 13,000 project contracts and brought nearly $77 billion into the country.

Because this year marks the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy, more deals are expected to be signed at the fair. The 12th CIFIT will focus on "introducing FDI" and "going global" and present information about investment negotiations, investment policy promotions, the coordinated development of national and regional economies, and economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

Backed by strong support from the State Council and the fair's organizing committee, preparations for the 12th CIFIT are proceeding smoothly. Trade relations between the mainland and Taiwan will become another important feature of the fair after they launched direct air services on a regular basis.
