Centering on the theme "Creating Value through Innovation," the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2014, or the 8th Summer Davos in Asia forum, will be held from September 10 to 12 at Tianjin Meijiang Convention Center.

"By August 18, a total of 1,706 person from 110 countries and regions had registered to attend the forum, 70 percent of whom are foreign guests, including high-profile government leaders from Denmark, Albania, Russia and Serbia," said Wang Hezhen, a government coordinator.

Wang said that after going through a series of interviews and training sessions, 890 volunteers have been selected to serve at the Meijiang Convention Center.

The venue of the forum, a convention center, will be divided into four sections each with a different function. The center covers an total area of 20,000 square meters, with the core region containing 20 session rooms. The construction of the core region is expected to wrap up at the end of August. Aside from that, efforts have also been made in improving security, publicity, food safety and emergency response in advance of the event.

So far, Tianjin Municipality has successfully hosted the World Economic Forum in 2008, 2010 and 2012, paving the way for the city to gain international recognition and bolster its global status.
