Share

The upcoming Shanghai International Film Festival is set to overexcite locals with over 300 films, a few debuts as well as early Alfred Hitchcock works.

The director Alfred Hitchcock came to fame in the 1950s and pioneered suspense cinema.

Nine silent films from the famous director have been carefully restored and will be shown for the first time in Asia.

Shot between 1925 and 1929, they will include his first film The Pleasure Garden.

Award-winning Taiwan filmmaker Sylvia Chang's new film Chinese Lover will make its debut, marking her first film since 2008's Run Papa Run.

The festival is the 16th so far, and will be held from June 15 to 23. Tickets are on sale for between 40 to 60 yuan ($6.5-9.8).
