Leadership Calls for Utmost Efforts for Olympic Games
Bureau members said China should organize a unique and "high quality" Olympic Games, and ensure they were environment-friendly

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Friday called on the public to make utmost efforts for the organization of the 2008 Olympic Games.

President Hu Jintao, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the Political Bureau meeting.

Bureau members said China should organize a unique and "high quality" Olympic Games, and ensure they were environment-friendly.

They called for frugality in the organization of the Games, and pledged a clean Olympics.

The Political Bureau called for the construction of stadiums and other facilities to be basically completed and the management, security, service and emergency response systems to be established this year.
