Cycling - Track--Men's Team Pursuit

The team of Great Britain during the competition. The British cyclists stunned the world by breaking their own world record to take the gold in 3 minutes, 53.314 seconds. Denmark took the silver. The bronze went to New Zealand. Britain dominated the track by winning five out of seven golds so far

Gymnastics--Men's Rings

Chen Yibing of China during the competition. Chen won the gold with a score of 16.600 points. His teammate Yang Wei took the silver. Oleksandr Vorobiov of Ukraine settled the bronze. It is the country's second Olympic gold in the event since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics

Gymnastics--Women's Uneven Bars

(L-R) Silver medallist Nastia Liukin of the U.S., gold medallist He Kexin of China, and bronze medallist Yang Yilin of China. He, who scored the same 16.725 points with Liukin, claimed the title under a tie-break rule

Gymnastics--Men's Vault

Blanik, who scored the same 16.537 points with Bouhail, claimed the title under a tie-break rule. It is the first gymnastics title for Poland in the Olympic history

Weightlifting--Men's 105kg

Andrei Aramnau of Belarus during the competition. Aramnau hoisted 200kg in snatch and 236kg in clean and jerk for a combined total of 436kg, beating the previous world record of 430kg set by Denis Gotfrid of Ukraine in 1999. Dmitriy Klokov and Dmitry Lapikov of Russia took the silver and bronze respectively

Table Tennis--Men's Team Competition

 Athletics--Women's Discus Throw

Stephanie Brown Trafton of the U.S. during the competition. Trafton won the gold with 64.74m. It is the first track and field gold for the U.S. at the ongoing Games, and also the first women's discus throw title for the country in 76 years after Lillian Copeland claimed the gold at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Yarelis Barrios of Cuba took the silver. The bronze went to Olena Antonova of Ukraine

Gold medallist Elena Isinbaeva displays the national flag of Russia after setting a new world record at the National Stadium. Two-time world champion Isinbaeva set a new world record, her third of the year, when she cleared 5.05m on her third and final attempt. Jennifer Stuczynski of the U.S. took the silver. Gold medallist Irving Jahir Saladino Aranda of Panama waves to the audience. World champion Saladino reached 8.34m, winning the first Olympic gold medal for the country. Khotso Mokoena of South Africa got the silver with 8.24m and Ibrahim Camejo of Cuba won the bronze with 8.20m
