Samuel Kamau Wansiru of Kenya crosses the finish line at the National Stadium. Wansiru won the gold with a time of 2 hours, 6 minutes and 32 seconds, breaking the Olympic record set by Carlos Lopes of Portugal at the 1984 Los Angeles Games by 2 minutes 49 seconds.
