Six people, including a two-year-old child, have been rescued after being trapped in buildings submerged by a barrier lake in northwest China's Gansu Province.
The victims were found dehydrated on Wednesday morning, after being stranded in floodwater for three days. Continuous downpours triggered a landslide that formed a barrier lake on Sunday, inundating half of Zhouqu County.
A number of miracles have taken place since that time. Though the crucial 72-hour time period has passed, rescue teams are still carrying out great efforts to search for survivors. Their endeavors also led to a 50-year-old man being freed on Wednesday morning, after spending 81 hours trapped in knee-deep sludge.
