New Year's Resolution
Share

The past year was unforgettable for journalists all over the world and, in particular, for those who cover China. And so it was for the staff at Beijing Review. What happened in the country in 2008, happy or unhappy, galvanized us while deeply and widely affecting the world. As a result, Beijing Review's circulation increased dramatically, and its online version recorded historically high numbers of visitors.

This year's first issue of Beijing Review is dedicated to an economic forecast for China in 2009. This will be followed throughout the year by more in-depth stories and articles about economic issues both inside and outside China, given the global panic over the financial crisis and possible world recession. Beijing Review also will focus more intensely on China's social development and its relations with foreign countries. A legion of scholars will assist us with our investigations in this regard and provide analyses and comments.

The crystal ball indicates that many big events will happen in 2009 and keep media organizations on their toes. Beijing Review's reporters and editors will be traveling more and working harder to bring you these stories. I do hope that the result of our efforts in the new year will be a journalistic harvest that fulfills the needs of our readers.
