The Seventh National Lotus Awards Contemporary and Modern Dancing Competition will be held in Ordos City in Inner Mongolia, from September 10 to 15.
The event, jointly held by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles along with the Chinese Dancers Association, will attract some 2,000 dancers from 60 teams nationwide.
Contemporary and modern dance isn't restricted by a particular dancing style. It has more room for creativity. It is also much easier to incorporate into everyday life, compared with other dances such as ballet, classical or folk.
A total of 20 modern dance works and 40 contemporary dance works will compete for prizes. The competition, according to organizers, represents the highest level for contemporary and modern dance from 2005 to 2010.
