China and Russia have wrapped up their joint naval drills in the Yellow Sea, deepening the partnership between the countries and building ties between their militaries.
The large-scale drills, taking place between April 22 and 27, brought together a total of 25 naval vessels, 13 aircrafts, nine helicopters, and two special fighting groups. It featured defense of air and maritime traffic routes, search and rescue operations, and anti-submarine tactics.
The drill consisted of four stages: operation planning, troop exercises, fleet review, and exchanges and discussion. The live-fire practice on air, sea and underwater targets was a climax of the 6-day exercises, which was followed by a fleet review on Thursday afternoon. (CNTV.cn April 27, 2012) |
