The State Council, or China's cabinet, on Thursday appointed the lineup of principal officials who will make up the fourth-term government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, in line with the Basic Law.

The officials were nominated by Hong Kong Chief Executive-elect Leung Chun-ying. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor has been appointed chief secretary for administration, with John Tsang Chun-wah being appointed financial secretary. Both born in Hong Kong, they joined the civil service in early 1980s.
