France Calls DPRK to Refrain from Further Actions
Share

France urged Saturday the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to refrain from further taking actions that may escalate the tension after it had said to enter "state of war."

"France is deeply concerned by the situation in the Korean Peninsula," urging the DPRK to refrain from "further provocation," said Philippe Lalliot, Foreign Affairs spokesman, in a statement.

Meanwhile, France asked the DPRK "to fulfill its international obligations," to solve the issue "within the framework of UN relevant resolutions" and "quickly resume the path of dialogue," the French diplomatic spokesman added.

The DPRK said Saturday that it has entered a "state of war" with South Korea.

All matters between the two Koreas will be handled according to wartime condition, the DPRK said in a statement, adding that the long-standing condition of the Korean Peninsula of being neither peace nor war is finally over.

The statement, issued jointly by the DPRK government, party and other organizations, warned that any military provocation near the land or sea border of the two sides would result "in a full-scale conflict and a nuclear war."
