David Cameron to Push for an EU-China Trade Deal

British Prime Minister David Cameron has visited the Jaguar Land Rover factory in Beijing and pushed for an EU-China trade deal on the first day of his visit to China.

While touring the Jaguar Land Rover factory, Cameron showed his support for the famous British brand. Cameron later spoke at the UK-Chinese business summit. He made clear his desire for a free trade deal.

Cameron's office said he was the first European leader to champion such a deal and had discussed the issue with other EU member states. Such a deal would address services liberalisation and better intellectual property rights protection.

"I believe it's time now also to look at a proper free trade agreement between the European Union and China. The free trade agreements that we have pioneered and signed have been a huge success, win-win situations as you would say, and we believe there's an extraordinary opportunity for a win-win situation between the European Union and China if we take this path, and you'll have no stronger supporter than Britain in making those arguments," Cameron said.
