Clothing from Southeast Asian countries are being showcased alongside exquisite Chinese clothing at the Museum of Chinese Women and Children in Beijing. Last Tuesday's event is part of the ongoing 2014 China-ASEAN Culture Exchange Year with various events taking place in Beijing.
This is not your average fashion show, models strutted down the catwalk with a dazzling array of collections from a host of Southeast Asian nations. The collections are not only glamorous but also exude a rich sense of heritage and culture.
The collections are from nations like Cambodia, Thailand, Myammar, Laos, Vietnam and Brunei. Many of the showcased works are inspired by the various ethnic communities in the countries.
The models in the event are all top-notch in China. They were not only clad in Southeast Asian clothing but also showcased classic Chinese themed clothing.
The event also features the clothes on display as an exhibition. The Chinese exhibits range from gowns inspired by the dress of the imperial courts and Chinese embroidery.
Over 500 pieces of clothing were showcased at the event. It will run until April 17 at the the Museum of Chinese Women and Children.
