The latest updates from the 6.5-magnitude earthquake that rocked Ludian County in the Southwest Yunnan Province on August 3.
So far, 617 bodies have been found in Ludian, Qiaojia, Zhaoyang, Huize counties. However, 112 people are still missing, and over 3,000 people have been injured.
Families who lost loved-ones in the earthquake have received a 20,000 yuan ($3,240) compensation per victim from local governments. Tens of thousands of tents, cotton quilts, clothes and folding beds have been dispatched to the disaster area.
Survivors have also been supplied with rice, mineral water, instant noodles, milk, bread and biscuits. By Sunday afternoon, the quake zones in Yunnan had received donations of about 480 million yuan ($77.76 million) in cash and supplies valued at 140 million yuan ($22.68 million).
All roads in the quake zone have been reopened, allowing more relief goods to pour in. Water and power supplies to the quake-affected areas have been restored. Meanwhile, medical workers have so far been effective in preventing the outbreak of communicable diseases in the quake zone.
