The Latin America version of the 2019 Chinese Enterprise Global Image Survey Report released on December 3 showed that respondents from Latin American welcome Chinese companies bringing advanced technologies to their respective countries, with an average of 51 percent expecting cooperation in biotechnology and 49 percent in infrastructure.

The survey was conducted from June to August by China Report magazine in partnership with the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, two subsidiaries of China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and London-based market research firm Kantar. The result was released during the Chinese Enterprise Global Image Summit in Beijing.

This event has become an important platform to encourage Chinese enterprises to better implement the Belt and Road Initiative, boost international operation and share experiences on promoting their global image, according to Weng Jieming, deputy head of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

The survey also showed that 94 percent respondents believe that the Chinese economy will maintain its momentum in the next decade, fully recognizing its positive impact on the regional and world economies.

Since China's reform and opening up, Chinese enterprises have grown into important participants in a new type of global governance based on international development. Long Guoqiang, Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, said that the global image of enterprises is crucial. Chinese enterprises should try to integrate themselves into local strategies and contribute to local development.

Some 73 percent of respondents had a positive impression of Chinese enterprises, compared to 71 percent for U.S. enterprises and 62 percent for French enterprises, according to the survey.

Chinese private enterprises are playing an increasingly important role in the international arena. The global image of these enterprises is of great significance not only to their long-term development, but also to the national image and strength of China, Li Zhaoqian, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, said. It is necessary for them to enhance their core competitiveness, improve the quality of their products and services, and make more innovation in order to build up a more reliable global image, he said.

With the continuous improvement of China's comprehensive national strength and international status, and the solid progress of Belt and Road construction, China has become deeply integrated into the global economy. More Chinese enterprises have chosen to expand their international market and participate in global competition, Du Zhanyuan, President of CIPG, said during the summit. With China's further opening up, enterprises should improve their overseas recognition, enhance brand management and strengthen the cultural core of their brands, he added.
