Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press and Palgrave Macmillan have signed an agreement to publish an English version of My Personal Experience of the Tokyo Trial.

The deal was signed at the Beijing International Book Fair, in the presence of the Mei Xiao'ao, the son of the legendary judge Mei Ru'ao.

Mei Ru'ao is best remembered for the efforts he made to protect the dignity and legal interests of Chinese people during the trial of 28 Japanese war criminals at a Tokyo court in 1946.

The task of sorting out his father's manuscripts and journals started 30 years ago after they were discovered by accident.

Mei Ru'ao became a consultant to the Foreign Ministry, and died in 1973, at the age of 69.

His son, Mei Xia'ao, who sorted out the materials and compiled the book, said its publication in English would better impart the truth of history to foreign readers.
