In the past five year, China has dealt with 724,000 drug-related cases, arrested 534,000 suspects and seized 370 tons of drugs in various forms, according to the country's drug control office on June 26.

China has made 1.45 million drug users undergo treatment in the past five years, said the Narcotics Control Bureau of Ministry of Public Security.

As a keen participant in the global anti-drug fight, China joined 16,000 international operations against drugs, arresting 19,000 suspects and capturing 22.7 tons of drugs during the past five years, said the bureau.

The country has had over 40 training programs for foreign narcotics police, with 1,300 students from all over the world.

Since 2002, a total of 10 narcotics control cooperation offices have been established by China, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, covering the most serious drug-plagued regions along the borders.

To prevent the country's youth from taking drugs, 270,000 schools nationwide run educational campaigns for 210 million students, said the bureau.

The educational website founded by the bureau receives over 7 million hits everyday, and its WeChat account has 4.4 million subscribers.

June 26 was International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
