A giant panda born in 2015 (XINHUA)

The Shenshuping Protection Base under the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in the Wolong National Nature Reserve, southwest China's Sichuan Province, officially started operation on May 11.

The protection base, sponsored by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will be used for breeding, reproduction, wildness trainings and scientific studies of giant pandas.
