Xiongan New Area, established on April 1, 2017, is an economic zone about 100 km southwest of Beijing. It is the third new area of national significance after the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Shanghai Pudong New Area. China aims to build it as a low-carbon, intelligent, livable and globally influential city where people and nature exist in harmony.

The new area straddles three counties in Beijing's neighboring Hebei Province. It is planned to cover 100 square km initially and will be expanded to about 2,000 square km once completed.

Xiongan will house some of Beijing's relocated non-capital functions, and operate as a new growth pillar for China's economy.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for "world vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics and high goals" in planning and construction of Xiongan.

More than one year after the establishment of the new area, a public services center has been built, the Beijing-Xiongan rail link has started construction, afforestation projects are underway and major enterprises have established branches there.
