An exhibition on Chinese folk art opened to the public at Beijing's China National Arts and Crafts Museum on February 22, featuring 164 pieces and sets of traditional folk and art works in celebration of the Year of the Tiger.

Part of the Rejuvenation of Classic Collections series, the show highlights two elements: "tiger" and "spring," channeling the vibrant, colorful palette of folk art through Chinese New Year's pictures, papercuttings, shadow puppets, painted sculptures, and Chinese kites, culminating in a wide-ranging streak of folk-artsy tigers. 

"The museum carries roughly 60,000 pieces of fine folk art covering almost all varieties. Several forms of the art make up the basic content of China's original culture as well as our common spiritual memory," said Wu Weishan, Curator of the National Art Museum of China.
