After closing for nearly two months due to the novel coronavirus epidemic, the Beijing Zoo, a popular tourist attraction in the city has partially resumed operation since March 23. And the outdoor areas of the panda house have reopened.

All outdoor exhibits of the zoo are open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., where visitors can view around 140 kinds of animals out of the total of 430. However, indoor animal venues, exhibition centers and dining halls remain closed. Visitors need to book tickets at least one day in advance on the online platforms of the zoo, have their temperatures measured before entry and wear masks. The zoo has been divided into 60 zones in which staff patrol to ensure that visitors keep safe distance. The number of visitors is strictly controlled through the real-time monitoring of data.

Since some indoor venues are still shuttered, the zoo has continued to promote online exhibitions on Weibo, a Twitter-like social media platform in China, and WeChat, a messaging app, for visitors.
