The high-speed train G4802 carrying more than 800 passengers from Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus in Hubei Province, central China, arrived at the Beijingxi Railway Station at 14:24 p.m. on April 8, marking the first arrival from Wuhan in the country’s capital after Wuhan lifted outbound travel restrictions at 0:00 a.m. the same day. Passengers exited from a specialized green channel to a transfer area on the second floor underground, where people from 16 districts of Beijing were waiting to pick them up. Many people were carrying placards with words “welcome home”, while others had the words “Welcome to Beijing” written on their protective suits. The passengers lined up in an orderly manner according to their districts and after gathering together, they moved to the parking lot of the Beijingxi Railway Station and were taken to the transferring points by bus. Then, they would be transferred under the guidance to their homes for quarantine. (Photos by Wei Yao) Copyedited by Madhusudan Chaubey Comments to weiyao@bjreview.com |
