The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) China held a parade to mark its 90th founding anniversary in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on July 30.

More than 12,000 service personnel from the army, navy, air force, armed police, as well as the newly formed rocket force and strategic support troops, took part in the event at Zhurihe military training base.

It is the first time that China has commemorated its Army Day with a military parade since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

As one of the world's largest military forces, the PLA now commands about 2 million service personnel.
