A Boao Forum for Asia press conference announces the schedule of its 2019 annual conference in Beijing on January 16 (CHENG YILUN)
Representatives from the political, business and academic communities will address issues concerning global governance and economic uncertainties at the upcoming Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2019. Scheduled for March 26-29 in Boao, Hainan Province, the event is themed Shared Future, Concerted Action, Common Development, and its opening plenum will take place on March 28. The conference "will provide an open, inclusive platform for stakeholders to dialogue about common interests and will send a clear message of building consensus regarding global governance," said Li Baodong, BFA Secretary General. "The issues were finalized after several rounds of discussions among BFA initial countries, board members, advisers, other members, partners and think tanks," Li added. The conference will feature approximately 50 official sessions, including the opening plenum, themed discussions, CEO dialogues and roundtable meetings. The sessions are formatted into five modules--open world economy; multilateralism, regional cooperation and global governance; innovation-driven development; high-quality development; and critical issues. Li also added that the BFA's annual conferences, hosted by China, have been graced with the attendance of its state leaders every year. Currently, the BFA Secretariat is discussing and has received positive feedback regarding the presence of state leaders from China at the 2019 conference. Also, a number of Asian and European heads of state have stated their intent to participate. Copyedited by Rebeca Toledo Comments to liqing@bjreview.com |
