The People's Liberation Army (PLA) celebrates its 96th founding anniversary on August 1. Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the need to speed up efforts to boost the modernization of the armed forces so as to accomplish the various tasks entrusted in it by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the people. He made the remarks while inspecting the air force of the Western Theater Command of the PLA on July 26.
