The 31st summer edition of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games kicked off in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, on July 28. The 12-day event features 6,500 athletes from 113 countries and regions. Committed to organizing a streamlined, safe and splendid edition of the games, China has acted vigorously to fulfill its solemn pledge for a successful World University Games and to make new contributions to the cause of international youth sports. Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed that the Chengdu Games should be an opportunity to champion the common values of humanity and write a new chapter in building a community with a shared future for humanity.
