Xi's Focus: Xi Jinping on China-U.S. relations

On September 12, Chinese President Xi Jinping replied to a letter from Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation Jeffrey Greene and Flying Tigers veterans Harry Moyer and Mel McMullen. In his reply, he said a sound and steady development of the China-U.S. relationship in the new era requires the input and support of a new generation of Flying Tigers, and he hopes the spirit of the Flying Tigers will be carried on from generation to generation among Chinese and American peoples. The Flying Tigers, officially known as the American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, were formed in 1941 by U.S. General Claire Lee Chennault to help the Chinese people fight the invading Japanese troops during World War II.
