The air defense brigade of the 47th army group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) opened to the press on July 29, shortly before the 86th anniversary of the founding of the PLA on August 1. Journalists from 48 domestic and overseas media organizations visited the brigade's garrison in Lintong District in Xi'an City, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

It was the first time that the government and military departments have held a media day outside of Beijing since 2008.
