Beijing Review launches its Chinese and English-learning WeChat app
By Wen Qing  ·  2021-01-07  ·   Source: Web Exclusive

Beijing Review is launching a Chinese and English-learning WeChat app, known as ASentenceADay, on January 7. The new app is tailored to help non-native speakers take a few moments a day to learn to read and speak standard Chinese. For local Chinese users, ASentenceADay is also a useful tool for improving English.

Every weekday, at 00:00 o’clock, Beijing Review will introduce a new Chinese sentence, along with its pinyin, English translation, and pronunciation guides for both Chinese and English. The sentences will include daily life expressions, famous quotations, and other useful phrases.

The app includes a number of additional features to make language learning easy and enjoyable. By clicking the trumpet icon under each sentence, users can hear how each sentence should be pronounced and read after it.

Additionally, by clicking “View details,” users can discover individual vocabulary notes, as well as information on the origin of each sentence.

After users discover each new sentence, checking in, sharing the sentence with friends on WeChat, or giving likes will all help users accumulate points. The points can then be used to redeem gifts such as copies of Beijing Review magazine or books on Chinese and English translation. More details about points can be found by clicking “My account.”

Finding the app is easy. Just search“一日一句”or “ASentenceADay” on WeChat and look out for the red Beijing Review logo.

We look forward to you joining us for fun, fast, free and friendly Chinese lessons in just minutes a day! We have also set up a Chinese and English-learning WeChat group. Please long press the following QR code or scan it to join us! Mystery gifts will be offered to group members!

A sentence a day keeps the teacher away!
