On March 23, people of the Miao ethnic group living in Duimen Village, Jianhe County in southwest China’s Guizhou Province, celebrated the Lusheng Cultural Festival. People from communities nearby also joined the event.

The lusheng is a reed-pipe musical instrument with a profound history in ethnic minorities like Miao. During traditional festivals, it plays an indispensable role in celebrations. Along with the marvelous music, there is the lusheng dance, combined with love songs.

According to a census conducted in 2010, with a population of more than 9 million, Miao ranks the fourth among all ethnic minorities in China, mainly living in the mountainous area of southwest China.
