As food insecurity has become a global issue, people need to explore new ways to strengthen cooperation in the agricultural field, said Chen Bei, Deputy Secretary General of the Beijing Municipal Government at a briefing on August 23 about the upcoming 2022 World Agri-food Innovation Forum. The forum is set to run from September 24 to 25 in Pinggu District, Beijing.

Themed "Innovate Agriculture, Share the Future," the forum will take place both online and offline. The two-day event has invited hundreds of scientists, scholars and entrepreneurs from home and abroad to share their views on and solutions for food security and technological innovation.

Pinggu District in east Beijing aims to create an agriculturally and technologically innovative demonstration zone. "This forum is expected to function as a showcase for agriculture-related technologies, promoting the application of these technologies as well as international cooperation," Di Tao, Mayor of Pinggu District, said.

The forum is co-hosted by Beijing Municipality, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and China Agricultural University.
