Pakistan-China Centre to hold exhibition for women empowerment

Pakistan-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad is to hold an exhibition on 4th and 5th of March 2023 to encourage and empower women entrepreneurs of North Pakistan. The exhibition titled "Her Hunar" is organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan. 

A large number of women from North Pakistan including Chitral, Kalash, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Hazara Division, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Attock, Jehlum, Chakwal, Rawalpindi and Islamabad will participate in the event. 

According to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, the aim is to envision a business world in which women are empowered and uplifted. 

"In such a world, we aspire to see women transcending the limits of traditional boundaries by expanding their capabilities to the highest levels of professional excellence in trade and commerce," TDAP said in a statement. 

"Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art knowledge and skill set to women entrepreneurs," the statement added. 

Earlier addressing the pre-launch ceremony of "Her Hunar Exhibition" Shahera Shahid, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said that women accounts for 51 percent of Pakistan's total population and they cannot be ignored, so the government is working to empower them in order to enhance their role in the economic development of the country. 

Textiles, handicrafts, gems and jewelry, carpets and rugs, food products, fashion accessories, cosmetics and skin care products, furniture and decorative items will be the products in focus during the two-day exhibition. 

The exhibition will also hold sideline activities including live cultural performances, seminars and workshops, awareness sessions on intellectual property rights, National Trade Portal, Kids arena and food court with traditional cuisine from Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral and Swat. 

The event will be live streamed for Pakistani trade missions and social media.
