Multiple mediums including, the Internet, television, theaters and outdoor screenings, will be utilized to display over 300 films during the coming 10th Beijing International Film Festival, organizers said at a press conference in Beijing on August 13.

The film gala, cohosted by China Media Group and the Beijing Municipal Government, will take place on August 22-29. Previously, it was originally scheduled for April, but had to be postponed due to the novel coronavirus disease. Since its establishment in 2011, it has grown into a top film event with global influence.

Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of the China Film Art Research Center, said it would be the first time the festival is set to thrill audiences on the television screen, where 10 overseas works will be debuted. At the same time, 24 classic films will be screened in open-air theaters, which is another unique feature of this year’s event.

As a part of the festival, Beijing Media Network will launch a special program in the form of short videos and interviews. It will invite filmmakers like Wu Jing, who is the image ambassador of this year’s festival, to talk about their creative process and their thoughts on the industry’s recovery and development. Wu has contributed many works like Wolf Warrior, showcasing Chinese people’s persistence in a unique style.

Following epidemic prevention and control, the festival will make full use of online and offline channels. Forums, photo exhibitions and other activities looking back on the history of Chinese film development will be held to celebrate the 10th anniversary.

In addition, investment promotion will be carried out on an online platform. The festival is going to provide free booths to global film institutions, supported by 3D and virtual reality technologies, which will initially be applied to domestic film festivals. In terms of film pitch and catch, over 800 projects have been collected, up 13 percent compared to last year.
