The night market economy is booming during Beijing's hot summer months. Residents are escaping daytime heat by visiting evening markets that offer not just traditional dining but also shopping, leisure and entertainment experiences.
In addition to established commercial night markets like Guijie and Sanlitun, Beijing now features Internet-famous markets such as Yuelianghe and Panjiayuan that combine food, shopping and tourism.
Many districts have also created convenient neighborhood night markets. For instance, Tiantongyuan—one of Beijing's largest residential areas—has opened a special two-month night market at its cultural and art center plaza, bringing the excitement right to local doorsteps.
