The Taizicheng Ruins were once the summer palace used by the imperial family during the second half of the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234), known as the Taihe Palace. They were discovered in 2017 during preparations to build the Zhangjiakou Olympic Village for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
Located in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Province, 150 km northwest of central Beijing, the 14-hectare site follows the traditional layout of Chinese palaces, with a court in the front where state affairs were conducted and residences in the rear, arranged along a central axis.
A museum has been built on the site, displaying artifacts unearthed there including items exclusive to the royal family.
