The former official residence of the Tusi (chieftain) of Zhuokeji stands high above a river bank, looking over the area, now part of Barkam City in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province.
First built in 1718, the manor was the site of an important meeting during the Long March, a strategic repositioning by the Red Army between 1934 and 1936. The 1935 meeting helped shape the Party's policies on ethnic minorities, making its venue a destination for red, or revolutionary, tourism today.
The manor also overlooks Xisuo, a traditional stone-built village of Tibetan people that showcases their arts, culture and cuisine for visitors.
