From August 7-17, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province in southwest China, made history as the first Chinese mainland city to host the World Games. This 12th edition of the event, an impressive showcase of non-Olympic sports under the International World Games Association, drew 6,679 athletes and officials from 116 countries and regions, making it the largest and most diverse gathering in the World Games' history.
