An exhibition currently underway in the Hebei Museum in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei Province, is presenting treasures and artifacts illustrating more than 2,000 years of the province's cultural heritage.
Among the most noted artifacts on display is prince Liu Sheng's jade burial suit from the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-A.D. 220). It consists of 2,498 pieces of jade sewn together with gold thread. Another popular exhibit is a lamp from the Changxin Palace, the residence of Liu's grandmother. An ingenious design allows smoke produced by the lamp to travel into an inner chamber to settle rather than filling the air.
