The ongoing Colorful Brushstrokes Upon the Earth—the 2025 Chinese Farmers' Painting Exhibition at the National Museum of China in Beijing displays 278 pictures painted by residents of rural areas across the country.
Farmers' paintings have value as a record of China's rural development through the eyes of rural residents. Generally characterized by bright colors and exaggerated techniques, the genre has developed several distinctive regional styles, conveying the diversity of rural life across the country.
