The Seventh Haihe Culture and Tourism Festival kicked off in Tianjin on March 28. The monthlong event is held to celebrate the port city's mother river and promote Tianjin as a destination for shopping and tourism.

The 1,000-km-long Haihe River consists of five major tributaries, forming the largest river system in north China. It bisects Tianjin before emptying into the Bohai Sea, with historical buildings, commercial districts and popular landmarks lining its banks.
