Short videos have now become the most popular communication media on the Internet in China. Media outlets and social media platforms are seeking transformation through producing and hosting short videos and now many foreigners are engaged in short video creation and are increasing their online presences in China.
The award ceremony of the Fourth “My China Story” International Short Video Competition, sponsored by China International Communications Group, co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and organized by Xufang International Media, was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on September 26. More than 200 participants, including competition partners, judges and representatives from award-winning teams, participated in the ceremony.
Each year, the competition receives video on four themes: “Discover China across the World,” “Expats’ Experience,” “Town and Country Tour” and “A Bite of Chinese Food Worldwide.” The organizer collected 65,000 short videos from all over the world, which together had received over 100 million views.
This year’s competition also featured a category for the 19th Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Hangzhou next year. More than 100 short videos related to Hangzhou and the Asian Games were collected. The videos provide viewers with more insight into the history of Hangzhou, its modern development and its preparations for the Games.
At the award ceremony, leaders and experts presented awards to 72 selected teams, with the short video, “My Story of Chinese Characters: Daliang Mountain—Trains to Spring” winning the Jury Prize, the top honor at the event.
“My China Story” International Short Video Competition has been held each year since 2018. It has a strong reputation in China for collecting multilingual and multi-form short videos and sharing the stories of video creators from around the world.
