Topics of conversation ranged from the global shift to renewables and deeper cross-border collaboration to global energy governance. The dialogue concluded the June 4 to 8 World Youth Energy Tour 2025, during which 14 international youth leaders from eight countries visited CHN Energy projects, including a PV project in Shandong Province, east China, and the Daduhe Pubugou Hydropower Plant in Sichuan Province, southwest China. The trip offered firsthand insights into China’s progress in renewable energy technologies and its ongoing digital transformation of the energy sector. “Visiting the Pubugou Hydropower Plant was a truly valuable experience,” Azarine Raina Erwita Putri, an energy research analyst at the World Resources Institute Indonesia, said at the event. “It gave me a better understanding of how China is not only building an efficient renewable energy system but also taking additional efforts to support its overall sustainable development.” “What struck me the most were not the power plants themselves, but the control room, particularly how multiple power plants are seamlessly integrated into one control system,” said Rodrigo do Val Ferreira, founder and managing partner of Asia Latin America Group, an association of business advisors specializing in cross-border investments between Asia and Latin America. “The future of energy is green, smart and global. Through collaboration and innovation, we can build a better future together,” noted Kaldybayev Dastan, a Ph.D. student from Kazakhstan at Beijing-based Tsinghua University. The World Youth Energy Tour is an event co-hosted by China International Communications Group and CHN Energy, the world's largest power producer and the top wind power developer in terms of installed capacity. Now in its third year, the program brings international youth representatives closer to China’s rapidly evolving energy sector, demonstrating the country’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and shared development.
